Echoes of the Forest
Hello!
If you are reading this, you are part of a very small group of nine artists being invited for this special collaboration with Bullet Turtle Studio.
As many of you already know, Bullet Turtle is a small storytelling indie studio, based in the lovely island of Malta, and we are doing graphic novels and other projects where we value the craft and love of the artist for the arts as the vehicle to deliver a positive message through our productions.
You are part of this list because your love for your own craft resonated and connected with ours. So we hope we can make this project happens together and that this could be a joyful experience for all of us, but especially for the ones we will reach.
So...

What is it about?
Since I launched Bullet Turtle Studio, with The Book of Tharexis - Moonlight, I have this desire to create a collaborative space and to create projects that could be an opportunity to, not only, offer a platform for other artists share their perspective but also a place to create opportunity for them to grow their portfolio and have an income from it.
Bullet Turtle Studio is very small. It has been me (Juliano Castro) and Veronica Fralleoni helping me with the colors so far. Being small is part of the plans, so we can keep it the cosy-hand-crafted-indie way of doing what we love to do. We have a studio name, but behind it, we are just like each one of you: Artists finding a way to making a living with what we love to do.
The Project Echoes of the Forest comes with the release of The Book of Tharexis Vol.2 - Sunrise, and it is the first official expansion of the world we are building with The Book of Tharexis books. It is called "The Infinite Forest".
The first two books, Moonlight and Sunrise, complete the main story arc for this world, but as the name of the forest suggests, it is supposed to be infinite, because we want to tell stories from other characters, other places and in other formats, and we have many.
So here is what this invitation is really about: To collaborate with other artists, inviting them, after reading the full story, to render their vision about the world, the characters, the places and how they fell about it.

What is the briefing?
The first idea is to create prints.
A4 and A5 sizes. Numbered, sealed and certified as a Bullet Turtle Originals. That means, of course, a poster illustration.
Moving on, if this project succeeds, they could be published in other books and turn into products.
I probably know your next question, and it might be...
What should I do, then?
There is no briefing. Really!
There are no creative limitations in the technique, interpretation, design, colors, places, situations, anything! I want you to be free to recreate your favorite moment, to bring an alternative version of a character, to imagine a place that character would enjoy spending a lazy summer afternoon or a dark nightmare. Your piece will have your name on it, so we expect it comes with your special sauce.

Can I give you a hug? lol...No, just kidding. You gets money of course!
The goal of this project is to be commercial, to make it an income for us by selling prints at events like the Malta Comic Con and other events we will participate here in Malta and abroad and having it available at Bullet Turtle Online shop as well.
You will be included in all our promotional posts and any content, like behind the scenes, interviews, Substack and social media posts, and everything we will create around it. This is a project to be done together.
More commercial details will be given after you join officially.
We will sign an NDA (because you will have access to the book before the release), then a contract and keep everything transparent to you.
What I will get from this?
What's next?
Next I will gather everybody that has joined in a group. To make easy the sharing of the assets, the books, and technical info like resolution, formats, dates, etc.
It will be a place we can discuss details and align the production and of course, do some art talk and know each other better, a.k.a. networking.
To have a good timeline for you to execute your idea, I would ask you to answer with a yes or no this invitation until 30th August.
Deadlines to deliver the art will be handled case by case, as you are amazing but different artists with different techniques and ideas.
